The Feast of Christmas Prayer

This beautiful prayer reminds us what Christmas is all about. A Child is born, but He is no ordinary child; He is the Lord of all, Jesus Christ, Whose kingdom will have no end. And we, if we follow Him and grow in holiness, will live in that kingdom eternally.

We pray this prayer after arriving home from Midnight Mass, or on Christmas morning, before opening presents. You can also pray it as part of your table grace before Christmas dinner. And, of course, any prayer for Christmas can be prayed every day up through the Feast of Epiphany (January 6). There is no need even to change the words "this day": The celebration of the feast continues through the Twelve Days of Christmas, as if it were a single day.

Prayer for the Feast of Christmas

Ant. A light shall shine upon us this day: for our Lord is born to us; and He shall be called Wonderful, God, the Prince of peace, the Father of the world to come, of Whose kingdom there shall be no end.

V. A child is born to us.

R. And to us a Son is given.

Let us pray.

Grant, we call on you, O Lord our God, that we who rejoice in celebrating the birthday of our Lord Jesus Christ may deserve by holiness of life to attain unto fellowship with Him. Who lives and reigns forever and ever. Amen.

May we all have a Joyous Christmas and a Peaceful Year ahead!

  5. hi Dawn Treader, Kringle and Christer dears,

it is indeed the most wonderful time of the year! we have cold weather in the city, it's about 23 deg the coldest in the wee hours of dawn...lol! that's really cold for us! imagine if we were in your countries hahaha my knees would freeze! the respite comes at noon when it becomes 29-30 deg...warming our hearts! but no, we're very far from the Mayon volcano that's been erupting since a month ago. we are safe, but my fellow Pinoys (short for Filipinos) in the Bicol region, particularly in Albay, are not...and we do feel sad for them...we have been in solidarity, and have given much material help, like clothes, canned goods, other things necessary for daily living in the evacuation centers. but up to now we are still helping the typhoons Ondoy ("Ketsana")and Pepeng flood victims, those who have not well-recovered yet...there are many of them...

it is always good to share and be in solidarity with people who are going through tough times. this Christmas, we had a very simple meal, of bread (our local hot pan de sal), cheese, hot chocolate and rice porridge! very simple but delicious! oh, of course, it wouldn't be Christmas (according to my European ancestry) without my wine (i drink it in my Ozeki Sake cup!)!

so, from my family (Mikaela Angela,my daughter, and Paz Consuelo, my mother and I)to yours....

HAVE A BLESSED CHRISTMAS SEASON AND MAY IT LINGER THROUGHOUT THE YEAR!!! I THANK GOD MUCH FOR THE BLESSING OF HAVING YOU IN MY BLOG!!!
